Ilheus is a municipality in the state of Bahia. It is the city with the longest coastline among the municipalities in the state. Ilheus was founded in 1534 and elevated to city in 1881. It is known to acclimatise the novels of Jorge Amado, famous Bahian writer, as Gabriela, Clove and Cinnamon and the Endless Lands.
