Conde is a municipality in the state of Bahia. Located at latitude 11º48'49 "south and longitude 37º36'38" West, with an altitude of 12 meters. Its estimated population in 2013 was 25,724 inhabitants. It has an area of 954.452 km²
The Indians of Tupinambás tribe were the first inhabitants Count on land that the Jesuits had acquired through the provision of Garcia D'Avila, in 1650. Portuguese settlers and others, attracted by the fertility of the land, made residence in the place where he raised the then village of Low Itapicuru. In 1702, he was elevated to the Parish with the construction of the Church of Our Lady of Mount Itapicuru Beach.
On December 17, 1806, through an application signed by the people, became a village by Navarro ombudsman, with the name of Conde, pursuant to the order of "Conde dos Arcos" whose title came the name. Thus, the municipality of Vila do Conde had his servants competent bodies and has gone through several stages of development reaching the Republic and sticking to it.
Until 1912, the seat of the village and municipality remained in the same place of its creation. However, a huge flood of Itapicuru river that flows through the city today, destroyed and devastated its economy. On June 10 of that year, the county seat, under State Law # 889 was transferred to the Village of Terrace. It was a few years and the people of Conde took absurd awareness of this submission, as the largest economic front was the Count and Terrace enjoyed all the rights. The Count is limited to the North with Jandaíra and Rio Real; the South, with Rio Inhambupe; to the east by the Atlantic Ocean and to the west with Terrace. The city has a distance of Salvador, straight, and 151km of the BR-101 203Km. The current population is approximately 23,576 inhabitants and its main economic base is tourism, Bahia coconut cultivation and livestock.
