Cabedelo is a municipality in the metropolitan region of João Pessoa, in the state of Paraíba, Brazil. It has an area of 31.42 square kilometers, with natural measures 18 kilometers long by just three miles wide. Its population in 2014 was estimated by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics in 64,360 inhabitants. The city of Cabedelo was founded in November 4, 1585, around the fortress built by the Portuguese in order to defend the entrance of the Paraíba River estuary and the city of Filipeia of Our Lady of the Snows
